SAHIHI
Naturdrucke
Februar 2019, Lamu, Kenia, Lamu Arts Festival
SAHIHI means in Swahili: signature, exactly, copy cut, and it is a collection of handmade printings portraying tree leaves which can be found in Shela, Lamu. The imprints are in real Size and made directly by the leaf. The exhibition is exposing both indigenous tree species as well as exitic ones. The paper used for the indigenous species can be found in Lamu - the paper used for the exotic plants is China paper. Tracing the division between these two different categories shows how the history of Lamu is influencing the biological development of the island.
